Privacy Policy
Version 2026-08-03. Effective August 3, 2026.
Little Computer School is designed for children to use under the management of a parent or caregiver. We collect only the information needed to provide parent accounts, learner progress, and subscriptions. We show no advertising, we use no analytics or tracking tools of any kind, and we do not sell personal information.
Where the service is offered
Little Computer School is offered to families in Canada and the United States only. We do not knowingly accept accounts from other countries.
Information we collect
- A parent or caregiver email address and account identifier.
- A learner nickname, chosen avatar, stars, completed activities, and learning progress.
- Subscription status and a payment-provider customer identifier. We do not store full payment-card details.
- The date and policy version of the parent's consent.
- Basic security and service logs needed to operate the website.
Information we do not request from children
Children do not need an email address and do not create their own accounts. We ask a child only for a nickname and an avatar. We do not ask a child for a full legal name, home address, school, precise location, photograph, voice recording, date of birth, or contact details for themselves or anyone else.
Some activities invite a child to write a short private reflection. Those written reflections stay on the device and are never sent to us or stored on our servers. Only stars, badges, and which activities were completed are saved to the family account.
How information is used
We use information to save progress, provide parent account controls, operate subscriptions, support families, prevent misuse, and maintain the service. We do not sell personal information, and we never use children's information for advertising, profiling, or targeted marketing.
Parent choices and rights
A parent or legal guardian may at any time:
- Review the personal information held about their family.
- Download a copy of the family's account and progress data from the parent account.
- Delete the family account and all learner records.
- Refuse further collection by deleting the account. Because saved progress is how the service works, refusing collection means the service can no longer be provided.
- Correct information that is wrong or out of date.
Download is available in the parent account. To delete your account, or to make any other request, email hello@littlecomputerschool.com from the email address on the account. We respond within 30 days, and usually much sooner. Self-service deletion from the parent account is being added; until it ships, the email route above is the deletion mechanism and it is honoured in full.
How long we keep information
- Learner profiles and progress — deleted on request, and otherwise within 90 days after a subscription ends.
- Parent account record — deleted on request, except for the limited billing record below.
- Billing and payment records — retained for up to seven years where tax and financial record-keeping law requires it. These contain no learner information.
- Payment event logs — retained for about 400 days to cover the payment dispute window.
- Incomplete sign-ins — a sign-in record created when a link is requested but never used is removed within 30 days.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of providers to operate the service, and share only the information each one needs:
- Netlify — website hosting, content delivery, and the serverless functions that run the account and portal. Privacy notice.
- Supabase — parent authentication, delivery of the secure sign-in email, and the database that stores parent accounts and learner progress. Privacy notice.
- Stripe — subscription payments and billing. Payment-card details are handled by Stripe; we never receive or store full card numbers. Privacy notice.
We use no advertising network, no analytics provider, and no third-party content delivery network beyond those listed. Fonts and all other assets are served from our own domain, so no third party receives your device's address simply because you opened a page.
Where information is processed
Little Computer School is operated from Canada, but our providers store and process information in the United States (our database is hosted in the US Pacific Northwest region). Information stored in another country is subject to the laws of that country, and may be accessible to its courts and to law-enforcement or national-security authorities under those laws. By using the service you acknowledge this transfer.
Children's privacy
A parent or legal guardian creates the family account and manages the learner profiles. Requesting a sign-in link creates a sign-in record for the parent's email address. No learner profile is created and no child information is collected until the parent has read this policy and given explicit consent, and we record the date and policy version of that consent. Children do not create accounts.
If you believe a child has given us information without a parent's involvement, email hello@littlecomputerschool.com and we will delete it.
Security
Parent accounts use a one-time email sign-in link rather than a password. All traffic is encrypted in transit. Each family's records are isolated at the database level so one account cannot read another's. Access to production systems is limited to the operator of the service.
Business transfers
If Little Computer School is sold, merged, or has its assets transferred to another organisation, family account information may be transferred as part of that transaction so the service can keep running. Any organisation receiving the information will be required to honour this policy for information collected under it, or to obtain fresh consent before using it differently. We will notify parents by email before their information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy, and where the law requires it we will ask for consent again. A parent who does not want their information to transfer may delete the account at any time using the process above.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to how we collect, use, or disclose family information, we will notify parents by email and, where required, ask for consent again before the change applies. The version and date at the top of this page identify the current policy.
